Attorneys Michael Lyons, Brian Lauten, and Chris Simmons of Deans & Lyons, LLP are representing conservative commentator, Tomi Lahren, in a lawsuit against her former boss, Glenn Beck, and his media firm, The Blaze, after having been wrongfully terminated for her pro-choice comments on The View last month.
According to the lawsuit, which was filed today in Dallas County, The Blaze cancelled Lahren’s show in the aftermath of her abortion statements, continuing to pay her until they could formulate a plan to break their two-year employment contract with her. The suit also alleges that Beck and The Blaze are engaged in conducting a “public smear campaign” against her, which Lahren believes is intended to “inflate Beck’s profile,” given his dwindling following.
“She is very disappointed that she is having to pursue litigation,” said Lauten. “The fact of the matter is that she was wrongfully terminated. The contract simply doesn’t allow The Blaze to terminate her for expressing her personal opinion on the salient issue of abortion.”
A spokesman for The Blaze stated that Lahren remains under contract and is still being paid, claiming they are in full compliance with the terms of their agreement. However, the media firm has also denied Lahren access to her Facebook page, where she has cultivated a large fan base of 4.2 million followers. According to the lawsuit, this denial of access has “irreparably harmed” her.
