Dallas Appellate, Trial Attorney P. Wes Black Named Partner at Lyons & Simmons

DALLAS – Appellate and trial attorney P. Wes Black has been promoted to partner with the nationally recognized Dallas trial firm Lyons & Simmons, LLP.

“I’ve known Wes for over 25 years and he’s one of the sharpest legal minds I know,” said firm co-founder Michael Lyons. “When we added Wes to the firm a year ago, it strengthened what I consider to be one of the top trial practices anywhere in the country.” Black joined the firm as Of Counsel in 2023.

Board Certified in Civil Appellate Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization, Black’s practice is focused primarily on complex, catastrophic personal injury and wrongful death cases. He has briefed and argued cases before state and federal appellate courts, including numerous Texas courts of appeals, the Texas Supreme Court, and the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. He has tried cases in both state and federal courts.

A member of the Texas Trial Lawyers Association and the Dallas Trial Lawyers Association, Black has been recognized among D Magazine’s Best Lawyers in Dallas each year since 2020. He earned his law degree from Baylor University School of Law, where he served as editor of the Baylor Law Review and his undergraduate degree from The University of Texas at Austin. Prior to entering private practice, he served as briefing attorney for Chief Justice Rex Davis of the Texas Tenth Judicial District Court of Appeals.
