Stephen Higdon Partner

Higdon is an experienced trial lawyer who is not afraid to go to bat for his clients—anytime, anywhere. He represents injured people and families who have lost their loved ones with a tenacity that has achieved victories for his clients across the country.

Stephen’s clients often come to him when they are dealing with the worst moment of their lives. He is inspired by the trust they place in him and is relentless in pursuing justice for them. Never one to back down from a challenge, he tirelessly pursues the path to victory—regardless of whether it is a creative solution or just old-fashioned, nose-to-the-grindstone work.

Stephen started his legal career clerking for the Honorable Michael H. Schneider in the Eastern District of Texas, giving him firsthand insight into what persuades judges and juries. Equally important, he learned that no matter how large the company or the law firm they hire—a trial lawyer can level the playing field for people and get justice.

Using that insight, Stephen stands up to powerful corporations and their insurers to obtain record-setting verdicts and settlements for his clients.

Higdon has obtained exceptional results for clients in just the recent past:

  • $70 Million – Wrongful Death, Negligent Security/Operations
  • $25 Million – Wrongful Death, Gas Explosion
  • $10.5 Million – Electrical Shock, Utility Work
  • $13 Million – Wrongful Death, Oil-Field Fall
  • $9 Million – Wrongful Death, Product Defect
  • $5.9 Million – Wrongful Death, Motor Vehicle Collision
  • $5.5 Million – Mild Brain Injury, Product Defect
  • $3.75 Million – Brain Injury, Product Defect
  • $3 Million – Arm Injuries, Industrial Facility Accident
  • $2.5 Million – Breach of Contract, College Coach Contract Buyout
  • $2 Million – Spine Injuries, Trucking Accident
  • $2 Million – Burn Injuries, Apartment Fire
  • $1.75 Million – Spine Injuries, Negligent Maintenance

While Stephen is proud of these results and the necessary resources they provide his clients and their families, he is equally proud of the accountability and ensuing change they inspire the companies that harmed his clients to take. To obtain the resources and space clients need to heal, Stephen levels the playing field for his clients by disrupting the script companies and their insurers follow to delay, obstruct, or deflect—forcing companies to reveal documents and witnesses they would rather the jury not see. Combining the depth of his experience and meticulous planning, he puts real pressure on companies and their insurers to honestly appraise their conduct and the devastating effects it had on his clients.

Stephen’s command of the law and facts not only deliver results for his clients, it has also led his peers to recognize him with the prestigious 2021 John Howie Award and as one of the 500 Leading Plaintiff Consumer Lawyers by Lawdragon (2023-2025), Thomson Reuters Super Lawyers – Texas Rising Stars (2019-2025), Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch (2021-2025), and D Magazine’s Best Lawyers Under 40 (2020, 2022-2025). Never one to rest on his laurels, Stephen continues to strategically and aggressively pursue the best possible outcome for his clients.
