Lyons & Simmons Earns Place Among Longhorn 100

Firm among fastest-growing University of Texas alumni-led businesses

DALLAS – The trial firm Lyons & Simmons LLP, has been recognized by Texas Exes, the University of Texas at Austin’s alumni organization, as one of the 100 fastest-growing Longhorn-led businesses in the world.

“A staggering number of highly successful companies have roots that lead directly back to the Forty Acres,” said firm co-founder Michael Lyons, a 1995 University of Texas graduate. “It is quite an honor to be recognized among these dynamic organizations. I am proud as a graduate of The University of Texas of the recognition, but what I’m most proud of is what it says about our law firm. My law partners, our associates and our staff have worked tirelessly to make our firm one of the very best in the country. This is a team award to be sure.”

The respected plaintiffs’ personal injury trial firm has built a reputation for record-setting results, securing more than $1 billion in verdicts and settlements in the past year alone on behalf of clients involved in life-altering wrongful death, personal injury and products liability litigation.

Lyons was part of a trial team that obtained an $860 million jury verdict in 2023 for the family of a Dallas woman killed when a tower crane collapsed, ripping through her apartment building. In December 2022, Lyons secured an eight-figure verdict for a woman left a paraplegic due to emergency room delays. That case was recognized as the second largest medical malpractice verdict in Texas for the year and one of the “Top 10 Most Impressive Plaintiff Verdicts of 2022” by Courtroom View Network, which livestreamed the trial.

The firm’s work has earned professional recognition from numerous legal and business organizations, including the 2021 John Howie Award from the Dallas Trial Lawyers Association for “courageous pursuit of justice in the face of adversity.” The firm has earned National Law Journal Elite Trial Lawyers finalist distinction twice in the past three years and is the only Dallas-based personal injury firm to earn four consecutive honors in Texas Lawyer’s “Best Of” reader survey.

Lyons & Simmons will be among the companies celebrated for entrepreneurial success during the Longhorn 100 gala on May 3 at the AT&T Hotel and Conference Center in Austin.

To qualify for the Longhorn 100, businesses must be in continuous operation for more than five years and have been founded, owned or led by a University of Texas at Austin alumnus. Companies are ranked by percentage of compounded annual revenue growth.
